Dr. Henry Mohn
Dr. Henry Mohn serves as the Director and Lead Supervisor of National Christian Counselor Training. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Colorado Theological Seminary, a Masters Degree of Education from American InterContinental University, a B.A. in Elementary Education and a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Trinity Bible College. He received his Christian Workers papers in 1981, became a Licensed Minister in 1983, and was Ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in 1987. Dr. Mohn is a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor – Advanced Certification with the National Christian Counselors Association, an Ordained Minister of the Gospel with Beginning of Hope Ministry, a Board Certified Clinical Supervisor with the National Board of Christian Clinical Therapists, and is an instructor for and a member of The Sarasota Academy of Christian Counselors. He holds board certifications in Integrated Marriage and Family Therapy, Child and Adolescent Therapy, Substance Abuse and Addiction Therapy, and is a Certified Temperament Therapist. He is the author of the NCCA Phase 1 course Christian Counseling: Integrating Temperament and Psychology and the editor of several other NCCA courses.
In 1982 Dr. Mohn answered God’s call to enter full time ministry. He has served as a Staff Pastor in several churches and as a Senior Pastor in two churches. In 2005 he resigned from his last church staff position at a large church in California so that he and his wife could return to Wisconsin. They had previously adopted three children through the State of Wisconsin. Upon returning to Wisconsin they adopted five more children. In 2021 Dr. Mohn, his wife and two teen age children relocated to Missouri, close to where he and his wife met in 1981 in Bible College.
Dr. Mohn’s passion is to be a tool used by God to change people’s lives here on earth and for all of eternity. National Christian Counselor Training is continually developing new Christian counselor education programs and ministry classes, functions as a Certified Academic Institution for the National Christian Counselors Association.
Dr. Mohn works with a variety of issues including marriage, pre-marriage, family issues, blended families, ministry burnout, depression, anger, fear, panic and most other mental, emotional, and spiritual issues. He specializes in parent/child conflict and helping foster parents and adoptive parents understand the unique needs of foster and adopted children. Dr. Mohn has taught general sessions on this topic, as well as other topics, at the National Christian Counselors Association annual conferences in Orlando, Nashville, Atlanta, and St. Louis.
Dr. Mohn has served on the Special Needs Adoption Administrative Review Board for the Eastern Region of the State of Wisconsin and on the Child Protective Services Administrative Review Board for Winnebago County, Wisconsin. He and his wife passionately promote adoption and regularly meet with individuals and groups of potential foster and adoptive parents.
In addition, Dr. Mohn has conducted marriage workshops at Lake Tahoe, California and Washington, D.C. He has also traveled to Russia five times to work with children in orphanages, schools, hospitals, and churches and led a missions team to Jamaica to conduct a VBS for a local church and work with children in an orphanage. He has taught workshops to Russian pastors and children’s workers on how to effectively minister to children.
Dr. Mohn and his wife, Susan, were married in 1981. They have five girls and five boys ranging in age from 18 to 40 years of age, two by birth and eight by adoption, as well as three sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law. They also enjoy spending time with their 12 grandchildren.
